Gambling Information Advertising Campaign In
October, the AGLC in partnership with Alberta Health Services
AADAC launched a new, multi-media responsible gambling
information advertising campaign. With radio, television, online advertising, posters and CoolSign video ads
in the AGLC’s casino and racing entertainment centres, the advertising campaign
informs Albertans about the need to gamble responsibly. Find

Lindsay, travels to Las Vegas, Nevada, November 16 to 19
to attend the ninth-annual National Center for Responsible
Gaming Conference. Presentations from experts will feature
the latest in scientific research on gambling disorders and
innovative ideas for prevention, treatment and responsible

Responsible Gambling Awareness
Week, October 20-26, focuses on educating Albertans on
how to be responsible gamblers and how to access problem gambling
prevention and treatment programs. The week’s theme is ‘Play
Smart. Gamble Responsibly.’

VLT Responsible Gambling Awards – Application deadline
nears - Jul. 03, 2008
Since 2003 the AGLC has recognized VLT retailers who met both
the mandatory and voluntary requirements of the Responsible
Gambling Awards Program. By fulfilling the requirements
of the program, the successful VLT retailers are equipping
themselves and their staff with the information and education
to help their customers understand what responsible gambling
is, help them make informed choices and set their own limits.

drink prices, restricted happy hours among new policies to
curb binge drinking - Jul. 03,
2008
Beginning August 1, new province-wide rules will eliminate
cheap drink specials, regulate the duration of ‘happy
hours’ and limit last-call drink orders in licensed premises,
to make provincial drinking establishments safer for staff
and patrons.

council to coordinate provincial efforts to combat liquor
related violence - Jun. 17, 2008
Creating a safe environment for patrons and staff at bars and
nightclubs in Alberta is the goal of the new Alberta
Safer Bars Council (ASBC).

new training program to make Alberta bars safer -
Feb. 1, 2008
Reducing violence and increasing safety are the goals of a
new training program for security staff working at Alberta's
bars. nightclubs, and other licensed establishments.
