Racing Entertainment Centres

At its February 16, 2012 meeting the Board of the AGLC approved a three-year moratorium on the licensing of new Racing Entertainment Centres (RECs), with an option to extend the moratorium for an additional two years at the end of the three-year period. The AGLC will not be accepting applications during this period.

Horse Racing Alberta, a not-for-profit corporation, is responsible for issuing racing licences for all horse racing in Alberta. The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, however, is responsible for the licensing of all racing entertainment centers located at racetracks.
