This bulletin is to advise all cannabis retail licensees of IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS to the Retail Cannabis Store Handbook.

Effective immediately, a cannabis industry workers’ SellSafe certification will be placed into conditional status when they are found of violating sections 90.03(1) (allowing a minor to enter or be in the licensed premises) and/or 90.04 (giving or selling cannabis to a minor in the licensed premises) of the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act (GLCA). Key amendments include:

1.7.11: An industry worker’s certification will be placed into conditional status when an employee at a licensed premises is found to violate any of the following:

  • d): Section 90.03(1) GLCA: permit a minor to enter or be in the licensed premises; and
  • e): Section 90.04 GLCA: give or sell or permit a person to give or sell cannabis to a minor in a licensed premises.

Please familiarize yourself with the amended policies and ensure all affected staff are notified of the new requirements.
