Lottery Retailer Payouts

Gaming BulletinĀ
July 2018.LTR.2

This bulletin is to advise all lottery ticket retailers of an IMPORTANT AMENDMENT to the Lottery Ticket Centre Policy Handbook (LTCPH).

The following LTCPH policies are effective as of July 3, 2018.

Sections 1.4 and 5.4:

  • These policy sections were amended to reflect a recent decision by the Western Canadian Lottery Corporation (WCLC) to reduce the prize amount that lottery ticket retailers are obligated to pay customers for winning tickets.
  • Previously, lottery ticket retailers were required to pay prizes up to $200; they are now required to pay prizes up to and including $100.
  • As outlined in Subsection 5.4.1, retailers are responsible for paying out prize money on winning lottery tickets up to a value of $100 and have the option of paying out prize money up to and including $1000.
  • These amendments ensure that reasonable financial requirements are in place to support retailers in providing adequate services to lottery customers.

Please familiarize yourself with the amended policies, update your LTCPH as required and ensure all affected staff are notified of the new requirements.
The amended LTCPH may be accessed on AGLC website at aglc.ca.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact AGLC Hotline at 1-800-561-4415.
