Lottery scam warning

If you receive a phone call from someone telling you you’ve won a prize and must transfer money in order to claim it — it is a scam.

The most recent version of this is someone identifying themselves as a lottery representative, claiming you have won a prize and in order for it to be shipped to you, you must first transfer a certain amount of money through Western Union.

At no time will a representative from AGLC, or any other legitimate lottery request payment for delivery of a prize won.

If you receive such a call, please hang up, record the number calling, and then advise your local police department and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or online at www.antifraudcentre.ca.
