General Merchandise Liquor Store Handbook Review

Liquor Bulletin

March 18, 2021

This bulletin is to advise general merchandise liquor store licensees that a comprehensive review of the General Merchandise Liquor Store Handbook (GMLSH) was recently undertaken in support of government’s red tape reduction initiative and to ease regulatory requirements for general merchandise liquor store licensees.

As a result of this review, relevant sections unique to general merchandise licensees will be moved to the Retail Liquor Store Handbook (RLSH). These sections include:

  • Section 3.6 – Distance Requirements; and
  • Section 3.7 – Business and Facility Requirements.

This eliminates the GMLSH. The revised RLSH containing these two new sections may be accessed on AGLC’s website at aglc.ca. For a complete listing of AGLC’s modernization efforts, please visit aglc.ca/modernization.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact AGLC’s Compliance Branch at inspections.mailbox@aglc.ca.
