REC Bulletin

Policy Amendments – New Racing Entertainment Centre (REC) Facility Licensing

February 4, 2021

This bulletin is to advise all REC facility licensees and registered gaming workers of IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS to the Racing Entertainment Centre Terms & Conditions and Operating Guidelines (RECTCOG). The following RECTCOG policies are effective February 4, 2021.

In keeping with Government of Alberta red tape reduction initiatives, these amended policies update the process for new REC facility licensing:

  • While the moratorium on new licensed gaming facilities continues to remain in place, AGLC is updating policy by introducing a four step process for licensing new REC facilities.
  • Section 7 has been amended, replacing existing policies, to reflect the four step process in order to reduce red‐tape and streamline the process for applicants.

Please familiarize yourself with the amended policies, update your RECTCOG as required, and ensure all affected staff are notified of the new requirement(s).

The amended RECTCOG may be accessed on AGLC’s website at aglc.ca.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact AGLC’s Regulatory Services Division or call the AGLC Hotline at 1‐800‐561‐4415.
