Farmers’ and Artisan Markets

This bulletin is to advise interested stakeholders of a new addition to Class B liquor licence policy.

Effective August 17, 2020 farmers’ and artisan markets may be eligible for a Class B liquor licence if they meet specified conditions. Some the key conditions are as follows:

  • the market is approved by Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and/or AGLC;
  • the market operates on a year round or seasonal (three month minimum) basis;
  • the liquor service area is clearly defined and equipped with a beverage preparation area; and
  • food service is available.

The new policies are located in Section 3.3.26 and 3.3.27 of the Licensee Handbook and may be accessed on AGLC’s website at aglc.ca.
